Secure MultiMedia (SMC) and SmartSD devices are small packages, not much bigger than a postage stamp that offer up to 4GB+ of removable Flash memory storage, typically used for devices like cameras and PDAs. What they have lacked to date is any real level of security, but this has now changed. Secure MultiMedia Cards embed Java Card™ enabled tamper-proof silicon to provide a powerful, flexible means of securing the information in the Flash memory.

Helixion products are based on this Java Card™ secure platform Virtual Machine environment. Java Card™ is now being ported to many different hardware silicon products in both Smart Card and SMC formats and is now the standard virtual machine and OS environment for tamper-proof silicon products. It offers very high levels of security in terms of secure access, authentication and encrypted storage of user data. Helixion products will function in all SMC and SmartSD physical formats.
