Where mobile payment (and mobile banking) has provided the business spur for device evolution, Near Field Communications (NFC) is the technical catalyst forcing the real change in mobile devices. Implementations of NFC are tightly bound to new forms of Secure Elements. Secure Elements allow the mobile channel to become a trusted channel for value and trust-based transactions – even more trusted than plastic cards.

Helixion has been involved with the R&D aspects of this with Visa International for the last 4 years. Latterly, our focus has evolved to the point where we have developed an intimate knowledge of all the Visa mobile payment specifications and implemented key components including a mobile gateway and a VMA (Visa Mobile Application). In addition, we have created the tools to help businesses adopt Visa mobile payment technology capable of operation in multiple secure elements.
